Gull

I go to the lake almost every day to walk dogs, and the light is always beautiful. There is wildlife that I notice every day including swans, gulls and I occasionally see mink swimming in the water.
This rock, protruding from the lake, frequently has a gull perched on it.

Dear Old Dad

I did this painting as a gift for my brother this Christmas. It was supposed to be a birthday gift in August, but after being dissatisfied with 2 attempts at it, I ran out of time for my brother Andrew's birthday. So Christmas it was. It was still a painting that induced anxiety and lots of emotion!

But Andrew loves it, he was very close with my dad, who was the sweetest man on earth, and is dearly missed.
God Bless you, Daddy.

Dublin Bay

This is a commissioned painting that I did from an old photo. It is of my client's grandsons looking out their window onto Dublin Bay. I really prefer working from my own photos, I have more control, but sometimes it is not possible. This is a Christmas gift, and I am so pleased that my client really loved it!

Changable Weather

It is said that there are no more beautiful sunsets than those at Georgian Bay, which is part of Lake Huron. It is very popular cottage country.
I visited a friend's cottage this fall, and it was fabulous. The weather changed from moment to moment.

Back in the Saddle

It has been a very long while since I posted to my blog, and I have missed it! Over the summer I bought a house, and as you can imagine it has been an extremely busy time. The house has required some work, not the fun decorating kind, but the basic necessary kind, like upgrading the electrical ( damn those insurance rules!). Just figuring out where stuff should go is a major thing. My next project is having my art space painted, so that I can get back to painting in earnest. I have a few commissions I am working on, and lots of ideas about what to paint. My most current painting is this:

"One For You and Two for Me"

This is a woman after my own heart! I think she made some healthy choices though! Looks like salady things on her plates. I would have added an eclair I think!

Elora Art in the Yard

This year, for the first time, I will be participating in the Elora Art in the Yard Show in the picturesque and historic town of Elora on the Grand River. Here is a link for more info on the town:

It takes place this July 7th and 8th.

Gotta Go Round

My favorite kind of light comes in the early morning or at dusk, especially in the summer. I was at the   "Ex" last year in late August, and love the midway where I photographed the ferris wheel.

I am using a palette knife a bit more in painting lately. I really like the marks it makes.
